My Story

You are Beautiful

Hi, I’m Raquel Caramello, founder of Raquel Beautiful, a disability-owned inspirational jewelry and gift brand.

I was born with Down syndrome, and growing up, I was bullied because I was different. I was called hurtful names and sometimes made to feel like I did not belong.

Then, as a teenager, I was diagnosed with leukemia.

During years of cancer treatment, I lost my hair, my strength, and at times, my confidence. When I was bullied because of the way I looked, I began to wonder if I would ever feel beautiful again.

But through those painful days, I learned something I will never forget:

Beauty is not something cancer can take away.
It is not something a bully gets to define.
And it is not measured by how much you look, learn, or live like everyone else.

When I was born, doctors told my parents that I might never live independently, have a job, make friends, or build a life of my own. But my story was never theirs to write.

Today, I am a college student who has lived independently, the CEO of my own business, and a designer, artist, author, model, speaker, and philanthropist. I am not sharing these things because they were easy. I am sharing them because no one should be limited by someone else’s expectations.

I want my story to remind you that your dreams are worth believing in. You may face obstacles, painful words, or people who underestimate you—but they do not get to decide how far you can go.

Beauty is the courage to keep going when your heart is hurting. It is choosing kindness after others have been unkind. It is finding a reason to shine, even after life has tried to dim your light.

I created Raquel Beautiful because I never want anyone to look in the mirror and feel the way I once did—unseen, unworthy, or not enough.

Each piece of meaningful jewelry is created to be more than something beautiful. It is jewelry with a message: a reminder of courage, confidence, kindness, and self-worth. Whether you are choosing an inspirational gift for a loved one or a special reminder for yourself, I hope it helps you feel seen, celebrated, and loved.

Every piece carries the message I needed during my hardest days, and the message I hope you will always remember:

You are valued.
You are loved.
You are worthy.
And you are beautiful. ❤️
